What is Derivativ
Derivativ.net is a social networking website for collaborative storytelling. It seeks to create a new kind of environment for sharing and building creative content. On our site, users have the choice to start a new story or add to an existing one. A new story is created when a user creates the first segment of it. After that, anybody else can “reply” with their own segment, or chapter.
Any given segment can have multiple “replies”, giving the stories a tree-like architecture that users can browse through. These branching segments are voted on to create ‘optimal story lines’. The highest scoring branches become the features paths through the story, and can eventually become part of the root story. In this way the collective body of users will both create the content, as well as solidify the stories into permanent fixtures.
