Creating Stories
Creating a story is very easy on Derivativ. From the top of the home page, the user has quick links to reading, writing, and editing their public profile. The “create a story” link is also placed in the bottom of each page under the “authors” heading.
Once at the Create New Story page, the user has options to customise how the root and susequent branches of their story should work. Each branch off of the first chapter will be given a character limit, which can be set on the Create page. In addition, each chapter of the story will live for a linking period before the most popular branch becomes linked to the root story. By changing up the Character Limit, or linking period, authors have the ability to start fast moving stories, or set tight deadlines for competitions between friends.
After a story has been submitted, it is instantly availible for others to read and contribute to. The author has the ability to remove their story, until it has it's first branch written to it. See: Adding to Stories to learn more about how users contribute to stories.
